Pasaules mediju telpā šobrīd dominē viedoklis, ka protestētāji, kuri demolē mājas, ielas, un automašīnas ir speciāli uzpirkti darba ņēmēji. Kas ir Antifa?
Antifa ir saīsinājums – antifašistu kustībai.

Lielākā daļa Antifa sekotāju stingri iebilst pret prezidenta Trumpa nacionālistu, antiimigrācijas un anti-musulmaņu politiku, kā arī pret visiem rasisma un seksisma veidiem. Tas, kas viņus atdala no kreisās puses, ir viņu pret valdību un anti-kapitālistu uzskati.
Ir zināms, ka Antifa aktīvisti ir vērsti pret fašistu, rasistiskiem vai galēji labējiem sekotājiem. Savus mērķus sasniedz ar īpašuma demolēšanu, fizisku vardarbību un digitāliem uzbrukumiem. Kustība kļuva pamanāmāka 2017. gadā, kad viņi iebilda pret balto supremacist, alt right un neonacistisko grupu pulcēšanos Charlottesville, Virdžīnijā.
Eiropas pirmsākumi
Pirmās antifašisma kustības tika izveidotas, reaģējot uz itāļu diktatoru Benito Musolini, kura Nacionālā fašistu partija pie varas nokļuva 1920. gados. Tās bija armijas ielu kaujām, kas izveidotas, lai iebilstu pret Ādolfa Hitlera nacistu partiju Vācijā.
Pēc Otrā pasaules kara antifašisma grupas turpināja iebilst pret fašistu kustībām, tostarp Apvienotajā Karalistē, kur fašistu Osvalda Moslija sekotājus sagaidīja opozīcija 43 grupai, kas bija antifašistiska ebreju dienestu grupa. 60. un 70. gados galēji labēji noskaņotā partija Nacionālā fronte tika pakļauta daudzo rasu radikāļu grupas pretestībai.
